Most people are unaware that Microsoft offers free IDEs (Integrated Development Environment) for several different programming languages including: Visual Basic, C#, C++, and J#. The download is pretty quick and does not require validating your copy of Windows, although you have to register the download within 30 days. The IDEs are “Express Edition,” however I (the casual programmer) have not noticed anything restrictive about them.
