Disable Windows Error Reporting

When Windows freezes and you have to force a program to close you get the following error: “Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.” Then there is some more text and it says, “Please tell Microsoft about this problem.” I don’t know anyone that actually does this and it’s quite annoying because this dialog pops up every time you force a program to close. This is easy to disable.


Open My Computer, right-click and open properties. Select the advanced tab and click the Error Reporting button. This is shown below:

In the Error Reporting dialog select the “Disable error reporting” radio button and you will never see those annoying error reporting screens again.

  1. Programs in Windows freeze all the time and that message is so annoying. I wonder where that error report goes?? I always thought that was a non-removable feature. Thanks for the tip.

  2. Ok I am having problems with my computer going to the blue screen and shuting down also there is a code that comes up wich is ***stop:oxoooooof4oxooooooo3,ox8633cdao,ox8633cf14 can you help the problem with this code this is not all of the code its most of it i could get before shutting down
